Creating the “Universe Engine”

Many of my illustrations use my own hand-made sculptures, which I photograph in a carefully controlled studio lighting setup. After photography is complete the elements are then composited together, and fine details and coloration are digitally painted as a final step. This video shows the first part of the creation process.
